Forensic audiology is the application of audiologic principles to legal issues. Because our knowledge and skills are helpful in deciding cases, we are well on our way to taking our rightful place alongside our colleagues in medicine and science as expert witnesses. We should welcome the opportunity to offer our knowledge and expertise in courts of law and other legal venues because it demonstrates our autonomy and independence. Unfortunately, since we have little training in this area, many are reluctant to serve in this capacity. This session will review the various roles we can play in the legal system and how to provide effective testimony.
