The purpose of this thesis was to identify the siblings' perception of the public's perception of autism. The clinical relevance to the field of Speech-Language Pathology is that the researcher identified the communication between the public and children with autism as well as the communication between the sibling and the child with autism. Twenty siblings of children with autism and 20 parents of children with autism were interviewed. They discussed their interactions with their siblings and the interactions that their siblings with autism had with the public. The researcher found that there is no one single perspective from the opinion of the sibling about the public's awareness of autism. This means that depending on the siblings' opinions, some of the siblings felt that the public was more aware and understanding, while other siblings felt that the public was not educated on this subject.
