This session will present information on critical issues relative to speech-language services in the schools. Discussion will include the current sunset of the speech correctionist certificate, certificate of eligibility, medicaid issues, staffing for speech-language services, embedded services for speech-language services as well as other service delivery models. Evaluation tools and SGOs will be reviewed. Early Intervening Services and Student Support Team, in-class services, caseload issues, SLSs involvement in the new dyslexia laws and action the speech-language specialist (SLS) can take to ensure a free appropriate education for students will be reviewed.
