Red Rover, Red Rover...Let's Send Literacy Right Over!

Friday, 9:00am to 11:00am
Promenade 1/2
Session 35
Supporting young children's language and literacy development has long been considered a practice that yields strong readers and writers later in life. There is also evidence that a child's level of vocabulary significantly impacts reading development. Most children are drawn to engaging and simple language activities that are presented in a spontaneous manner, yet many adults are not engaging children in conversation. This session is packed with brand new interactive ideas that facilitate: vocabulary development, narrative skills, letter knowledge, print awareness, print motivation and phonological awareness. Participants will engage in user-friendly activities that have been tested with thousands of children, ages two to seven. Practical ideas that are ready to roll, affordable and fun will be shared in this language-enriched session. Important language concepts are embedded into dozens of new activities. Laughter plays a starring role. SLPs across the country are looking for new ideas that are affordable. Participants agree that this session fills your pockets with oodles of early language take-aways for young children.
