Participants will explore the structure of grammar and techniques for enhancing the writing of sentences, paragraph types and the essay. The session will also introduce mapping and outlining techniques which students can utilize in the comprehension of fiction and non-fiction text. In addition, strategies for vocabulary development in the content areas will also be reviewed. Participants will be shown techniques for incorporating students' growing vocabulary into new reading and writing opportunities that match the common core requirements. Actual, hands-on strategies, that are multi-sensory, will be presented and can be easily recreated into elementary, middle school and high school curriculum.
