A Theoretical Intervention Model For Children With SLI

Friday, 3:00pm to 5:00pm
Rooms 60/61
ST2
This case study will present beginning work on a theoretical model that combines linguistic and memory based therapy into an intervention for children with specific language impairment (SLI). The investigator conducted a systematic review which indicated that there are specific linguistic and memory markers in SLI. The scarcity of evidence for therapy practices in both areas led the investigator to begin developing a theoretical model of best intervention for SLI. This model is based on the best available evidence for treatment of both morphosyntactic and verbal working memory deficits in children with SLI, and incorporates both approaches into one comprehensive intervention design. This theoretical model will be presented along with a case study in order to demonstrate the clinical application and proposed outcomes of the intervention.
