A Systematic Review Examining the Factors Associated With Providing Informal Care to Stroke Survivors

This systematic review analyzed research regarding the perceived burden among informal caregivers of stroke survivors. An electronic database search yielded 484 participants that met inclusion for this research. This review of the literature revealed common factors that may lead to a heightened sense of caregiver burden. The common factors found among the participants included: financial strain, physical health difficulties, lack of leisure time, lack of preparation and social role change. This poster will discuss these common factors as well as offer suggestions to reduce caregivers' perceived burden.
