Mentoring Young Professionals Program (MMYP): A State-Level Initiative

Friday, 1:00pm to 2:00pm
Rooms 60/61
Session 12
The purpose of this presentation is to describe a state association's role and initiatives in fostering the process of mentoring for graduate students and entry-level professionals. The program, Mentoring Young Professionals Program (MYPP) program allows graduate students as well as entry-level professionals in speech pathology and audiology to pair up with their assigned mentors to explore their careers and aspirations. The professional members are assigned the mentoring roles based on the best match between their areas of interests and the mentees' needs. Various models of mentoring are explored in light of mentees' professional preparation, professionals' mentoring experiences and diverse work environments. Continuing with MSHA's collaborative efforts, it is our association's dream to recognize and recruit passionate and inspiring leaders for the future of our profession!
