College students are at high risk for noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL) due to the number of harmful auditory environments to which they are exposed. This project evaluated the effects of education on the decision to wear hearing protection to a concert. At one university concert, attendees were surveyed on the effects the concert had on their auditory system. At a second concert, a subset group of attendees were given an educational session before attending and were offered hearing protection. Results comparing the population that did and did not wear protection were assessed and analyzed. In addition, students who had a pre-education session and those who did not were compared and analyzed. Results and implications of the survey will be presented.
