This systematic review examined the literature to determine the effectiveness of different interventions available to individuals with dysphagia secondary to Parkinson's Disease (PD). The review identified thirteen studies that included a total of 565 participants with dysphagia related to PD. Eight different dysphagia interventions were identified in the literature. These dysphagia interventions were then categorized as medical, compensatory, or rehabilitative interventions. The effectiveness of each category of intervention was analyzed and compared. This review concluded that rehabilitative dysphagia interventions are the most effective in the improvement of swallow function in those with PD.
