The Effect of Yoga vs. Straw Phonation on Voice Quality

This pilot project was developed to compare the effects of yoga-deep breathing versus straw phonation on vocal quality as a vocal cool-down. Evidence has shown that straw phonation is useful in improving vocal quality when the voice is fatigued, such as at the end of a stressful day or a day with much conversation or voice use. Yoga-deep breathing is used to stretch muscles and relax. Recent reports in the literature suggest that voice may also be improved after yoga sessions.
