Social Communication: Where Do We Begin?

The effectiveness of intervention for social communication is impacted by service delivery limitations, the need for generalization of skills to multiple settings and the various social skills exhibited by children with individual needs. The efficacy of several intervention approaches/techniques will be discussed and applied to children with various social communication issues. The presented intervention approaches will include Toy Talk, video modeling, PLAY Project and peer-mediated support strategies. The role of collaboration in service delivery will address concerns in generalization of acquired social skills.
