Management of Cognitive Communicative Deficits Following TBI

Friday, 3:30pm to 5:00pm
Room 201/202
Session 80
Each year, an estimated 1.7 million Americans sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI). While most individuals with TBI recover from their injuries, approximately 80,000 people each year experience the onset of long-term disability. Cognitive-communicative deficits following TBI contribute to long-term disability and influence functional outcomes. This session will focus on the management of the cognitive-communicative deficits associated with TBI. In particular, the session will focus on informal assessment procedures that will assist in decision-making regarding appropriate treatment approaches. Specific treatment techniques for addressing cognitive-communicative deficits will be discussed.
