Introduction to Precepting

Session 6
The purpose of this session is to introduce speech-language pathologists and audiologists to the process of precepting or teaching students at off-campus clinical sites. Frequently, preceptors will express the need for clinical educator training to help identify their roles, prepare for the student's arrival, learn methods to evaluate and give feedback and learn effective communication strategies. The session will begin with an overview of key concepts in clinical teaching and provide specific strategies to help preceptors prepare for student's arrival at the site, understand student and preceptor roles, establish student and preceptor expectations learn to evaluate and give feedback and identify effective communication strategies.
