Diagnostic Voice Evaluation Using the Five Domains of Voice Assessment, Part 2

Thursday, 11:15am to 12:45pm
Room 219/218
Session 23
Successful voice therapy is dependent upon a complete diagnostic voice evaluation. A systematic patient interview is followed by five domains of voice assessment including clinician perceived assessment of voice quality, patient perceived severity level of voice quality and its impact on daily function, visual imaging of the laryngeal structures and their function, as well as acoustic and aerodynamic measures of vocal tract function. Familiarity with commonly used assessment measures and their interpretations, applications and limitations are essential. Using multiple patient case studies, this session will introduce multidimensional voice assessment protocols, discuss interpretation of these measures and practically demonstrate how the measures are used in planning treatment.
