Best Practice for Working With Persons With Dementia and Caregivers, Part 1

Saturday, 8:30am to 10:00am
Room 201/202
Session 84
With a rapidly aging population, the number of dementia cases is growing exponentially. In 2013, more than five million Americans were estimated to be living with Alzheimer's disease (AD). This number increases dramatically if estimates of mild cognitive impairment are included. The demands that people with these diagnoses place on the health care system are significant. How to best intervene and work with this population is the focus of this interactive session. The latest information on AD, dementia and research on best practice dementia care will be presented. How rehabilitative health services can work with people with dementia diagnoses will be emphasized.
